Typhoon as wild weasel (SEAD)


Suppression of Enemy Air Defense (wild weasel) is a specialist aircraft intended for use against ground-based radars. The aircraft hovers over the enemy territory until an enemy radar is turned on. The radar station is destroyed using radar homing missiles.

Fuel tanks:

Two conformal fuel tanks, each carrying additionally 1500 liters of fuel.
Three drop tanks, each carrying 1000 liters of fuel.

The additional fuel amounting to 6000 liters extends the range of the typhoon considerably and enables the typhoon to loiter above the battlefield.

In case of enemy aircraft encounter, the Typhoon would be carrying additionally:

3 MBDA meteor
2 IRIS-T

1 Reccelite reconnaissance pod

The Reccelite is a sensor pod used for gathering intelligence about the enemy forces. This information is transferred online to the responsible commanders on the ground.

The typhoon would carry on its additional 6 pods:

6 ALARM (Air Launched Anti-Radiation Missile)

ALARM is designed primarily to destroy enemy radars for the purpose of Suppression of Enemy Air Defense (SEAD). ALARM is a fire-and-forget system, with an added loiter capability. In loiter mode, ALARM will, when launched, climb to an altitude of 13 km. If the target radar shuts down, the missile will deploy a parachute and descend slowly until the radar lights up. The missile will then fire a secondary motor to attack the target.
